Over this past Halloween week, Bee Line Support had the amazing opportunity to attend the 2018 conventions for both the ISSA Trade Show and Building Service Contractor’s (BSCAI) Conference in Dallas, Texas. With over 16,000 cleaning professionals from nearly 80 countries, 700 exhibitors and 90 educational seminars, there was no end to the activities and lessons learned throughout the week!
Winning the Image Award
Every year the BSCAI holds an awards ceremony that recognizes the cleaning industry’s leaders in a variety of specialties, including: safety, leadership, service, and image. Bee Line Support was extremely proud to take home the distinguished “Image Award” for Mid-Sized companies, which recognizes us as the industry’s best in overall image, through excellence in branding, marketing, social media presence, promotional items and website design. After a year of hard work executing a full re-branding of Bee Line Support’s image, this award is an exciting beacon of recognition for all of the effort and time put in to create an authentic and innovative voice and vision for our company!
Success is no accident. It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice, and most of all, love of what you are doing. Pelé – Soccer Legend
Remaining on the Cutting Edge of Clean
This year’s ISSA Trade Show served up a remarkable amount of innovative and diverse cleaning technologies, product exhibitions and featured showcases. Bee Line Support made sure to get the low-down on the cleaning industry’s latest creations and technological upgrades across the world to make sure that we are always pursuing the cutting edge of clean.
Not only were we able to test out new products, we were also able to pick the brains of the top thought-leaders, engineers and scientists that are creating the technologies and cleaning solutions we rely on day-in and day-out. We take this screening process extremely seriously in order to make sure we are always sourcing and providing the absolute best for our clients.
Words of Wisdom from Bush and Voss
Operating With “Strategery”!
The leading Keynote speaker of the ISSA’s conference this year was none other than our 43rd President of the United States, George W. Bush. One thing is certain: Bush has certainly stayed busy throughout his retirement! He filled us in on his current passion projects, institutes, pastimes, and some funny anecdotes throughout his time with us.
A few interesting tidbits we gleaned from his interview include:
-
He has been extremely busy since his presidency ended, founding the George W. Bush Presidential Center at SMU in Dallas. This Institute was created to discuss the best policies to foster economic growth, human freedom, education, global health, and furthering and improving women’s initiatives worldwide.
-
One of the most critical aspects of operating as the leader of a nation is your decision-making skills. He deep-dives into his own strategies and tribulations in his past memoir: Decision Points
-
He actually did not come up with the word “strategery” – it was all the writers at SNL! Who knew!
-
One of the best things you can do for your own mengoodreads.com/…ow/8099187-decision-pointstal state and creativity is to start painting. He assured us that you don’t have to be any sort of Picasso to start. Just grab some paint and brushes and give it your best shot! President Bush went from struggling to paint a cube to publishing his newest book titled “Portraits of Courage: A Commander and Chief’s Tribute to America’s Warriors”, featuring gorgeously crafted portraits of war veterans. He owes his success to surrounding himself with geniuses in their craft, who helped to mentor him through the learning process.
How To Negotiate Like A “Voss”
If you’ve ever wondered the keys to closing a sale, negotiating a raise, winning an argument, or just learning better negotiation tactics all around, then Chris Voss is your guy. I can hardly think of anyone better to speak on negotiation tactics than the former FBI lead international kidnapping negotiator himself. Talk about a high stakes game!
Chris recently released a book titled Never Split the Difference: Negotiating As If Your Life Depended On It, which chronicles many of his go-to negotiation tactics and advice. Here are a few of the secrets that he shared with us during his appearance on the BSCAI stage:
-
Go into a negotiation with a smile! Did you know that you are 31% smarter when you smile, as well as when you are in a positive state of mind? Flash those pearly whites, and feel that power take effect!
-
In the first 10 seconds of making your pitch, make sure that you lay out exactly what the listener’s problem is, and what they can expect from you to solve it. Do all of this in the first 10 seconds of the interaction, and you are sure to keep their interest, develop trust, and be well on your way to closing that deal!
-
How many of you start delivering bad news by asking the recipient: “How are you?”. If that’s you, cut it out! This primes the respondent to shift into a defensive state, which can be detrimental to your mission. Instead, deliver the news clearly and efficiently, and then move on with solutions or methods for moving forward.
Let’s be honest here: it’s not every day that your cleaning company can boast hands-on experience with state-of-the-art cleaning technology, guidance from leaders of nations, and accolades that set them apart from the rest of their industry. If you are interested in meeting the team behind these adventures, it’s time to give Bee Line Support a call!
